Visingsö – A Day of Adventure for the Whole Family

“We have had attractions from SBI Sweden for many years. The best thing about SBI’s attractions is how easy they are. They’re easy for us to operate, easy to maintain and most importantly, easy for the children to enjoy. Our guests love that the children can drive the cars on their own. We want safe and enjoyable attractions so that parents can feel comfortable letting their children explore while they relax with a cup of coffee nearby.”

– Wilma Wetter, Leklandet on Visingsö

A Family Destination Designed for a Full Day of Fun

Just a few steps from the ferry terminal on the Swedish island of Visingsö, families discover a place where children can spend hours driving, digging and exploring at their own pace. Since taking over Leklandet (the play area) in 2013, owners Mattias and Mathilda Wetter have continued developing the family attraction while building on a tradition that already included SBI vehicles.

Today, the park features a growing collection of SBI attractions, including a driving area with tractors, trucks and cars, a Kids Construction Zone, and most recently, Race1 – a racing-themed attraction featuring five of SBI Sweden’s Formula 1-inspired F1s Racing cars.

Rather than focusing on large rides, Leklandet has chosen attractions that encourage active play and let children take control themselves.

How the Ride System Works

Instead of charging per ride, Leklandet offers an all-day ride wristband (SEK 220), allowing children to enjoy the attractions as many times as they like throughout the day. Since many families spend an entire day on Visingsö, they often return to the attractions several times before catching the ferry home.

To keep the attractions running smoothly during busy summer days, every ride is started using a token. Guests with a wristband receive tokens free of charge, while visitors without a wristband can purchase individual tokens for SEK 40 each.

Each token provides approximately 2–3 minutes of ride time. After finishing a ride, children simply leave their vehicle, collect a new token and rejoin the queue if they wish to ride again. The system creates a natural rotation between guests, keeps waiting times fair during peak season and allows the attractions to operate efficiently without requiring staff to supervise every ride.

Built for Easy Operation

The park’s open driving area (a simple version of a Kids Driving School) allows children to come and go freely throughout the day. Over the years, the layout has even been adjusted to fit more vehicles while making it easier for children to drive independently without staff assistance. That philosophy extends throughout the park.

The Kids Construction Zone combines digging, grabbing and lifting into one interactive area overlooking Lake Vättern, where children – and sometimes their parents – can test their coordination using real hydraulic controls and joysticks.

Meanwhile, the park’s Racing Academy attraction, Race1, offers an extra challenge for older children, complementing the open driving area designed for younger visitors.

For the owners, operational simplicity has always been one of the main reasons for choosing SBI attractions.

Before Race1, we had a traditional carousel. It was beautiful, but it always required a staff member to operate it. During the summer, finding enough staff isn’t easy. These attractions practically run themselves, which allows our team to focus on everything else happening in the park.

says Mattias Wetter, Owner of Leklandet.

That ease of operation continues long after installation. The oldest SBI vehicles at Leklandet have been in operation since 2006 and are still in daily use. Over the years, the park has appreciated being able to upgrade existing vehicles, order spare parts when needed and handle most maintenance in-house by the park’s own small team.

Since SBI Sweden’s headquarters is only a short drive away in Jönköping, the Wetter family even stops by from time to time to see the latest products and stock up on spare parts for their own workshop. This combination of long product life, accessible support and easy maintenance has made it simple to keep the attractions running season after season.

A Classic That Keeps Families Coming Back

With more than one hundred ride wristbands sold on busy summer days, the attractions have become a natural part of the experience for families visiting Visingsö. Many guests return year after year, and for many children, driving their own vehicle is one of the highlights of the day.

From classic tractors and trucks that have delighted children for over two decades to the park’s newest Race1 circuit, Leklandet on Visingsö shows that attractions don’t have to be complicated to create memorable experiences. Sometimes, the simplest ideas are the ones families return for year after year.
