Less than 2 hours by car from Rennes, the capital of the region, you will find the Finistère area and Pont-Aven, whose name comes from the river that runs through this little village before discharging into the Atlantic Ocean. The locality became best known due to its connection to the post-impressionist painter Paul Gauguin who spent several periods in this picturesque town, forging both his artistic style, and the École de Pont-Aven art movement with other fellow artists.
